HOPE IN THE MIDST OF UNCERTAINTY

When you feel like life is constantly coming at you, it’s natural to feel the fear, anxiety, stress and confusion. But how can you keep these difficult emotions from overtaking you, and work through them in a way that leads you to hope in God?Joan Myers will unpack what hope means in a shifting environment, and how crucial it is for building courage, resilience and determination. She’ll also share some insights into how God can be your anchor when you feel like you’re on shaky ground.

FINDING THE HOPE YOU’VE LOST

There are times in life when you’ll find yourself at the bottom of your hope tank. You may have experienced the loss of someone dear to you, or a situation that’s become too hard to bear, or things may have got on top of you, or you feel alone and without God in the world. It’s at these times when you need God the most. Dawn Carew-Smith will explore with us how to rekindle and recover the hope we’ve lost. She’ll offer biblical and practical insights into what we can do to find our way back to trusting in God and living a life of hope.

BIO: Pastor Dawn Carew-Smith was ordained into ministry in 2004, and has served as the Senior Pastor of Vision Ministries International for the past 15 years, alongside her husband, Co-Pastor Carlton Smith. A former headteacher, Pastor Dawn is the author of a number of books, including: The Essential Guide to Successful Living series on living in purpose and victory, and a devotional called Thought For The Week. She will apply her practical approach, drawing on Biblical wisdom to Finding the hope you’ve lost.

Tuesday 19 January 2021 – Minister Selina Sharpe M.A., B.Ed., Dip Theo.

HOPE FOR TOMORROW

How can we press into God, dare to dream and have hope for tomorrow when the news reports and social media are full of bad news, and we keep hearing that we’re ‘in the last days’? In this talk, Selina will encourage us to reflect on how we can actively live in hope for tomorrow. She will share how we can daily find hope, joy and restoration in the presence of God, and still stay connected to our purpose in the world.

BIO: Minister Selina Sharpe is a retired Executive Headteacher who has worked in education for over 30 years. She now spends her time as an Educational Consultant, a teacher of Education Studies, a School Governor, Street Pastor and Secretary of Southwark Street Pastors, an Appropriate Adult for Sutton Council and a director of an advocacy company. Selina has been a member of her current church for the past 25 years and is a lay minister, and has used her teaching gifts within the church setting for many years, teaching in children’s church, home groups and various bible study groups.

Tuesday 26 January 2021 – Dr. Min. Angela Herbert MBE. Msc Ed; BSc Ed. PGCE

MIGHTY, POWERFUL SEEDS

Seeds of hope are often easy to miss. We can get so caught up in dreading the future, or longing for the past that we fail to see what God is sowing into our lives, or the lives of others. Angela Herbert will give a talk to Gather & Grow on the power of tiny seeds of hope that are being planted in this season. She will encourage us to build our hope by looking for the small things that God is doing now that will bear the lasting fruit in the future.

BIO: Dr. Min. Angela Herbert MBE began a public sector career 36 years ago, as a volunteer in prison and community ministry, progressing to senior management and policy within the Criminal Justice System. She now chairs a Police Independent Advisory Group and an Independent Violent Crime Prevention Board, which maps and networks opportunities that signpost youth to employment, training, and diversionary activity in London and across the United Kingdom. As a Minister of faith, published author and professional public speaker; Angela shares a message of equality, purpose, love and hope that encourages individuals and groups to identify and achieve their aspirations. Her passion for enabling those trapped in the criminal justice system to find their way out and into the heart of their community and civil society more widely informs her talk, Mighty, Powerful seeds.

Valecia Larmond is the proud and devoted mother of two young men. She has worked in various organisations two which changed her outlook on life: Metropolitan Police and London Probation. A devoted Christian for over 35 years, Valecia presently serves in the capacity as a worship leader for two Pentecostal Christian fellowships. In the past she has been involved with a worship Ministry in Wandsworth prison and has participated in various Church Convocations far and wide, also as a Choir and Chorale Leader. Valecia has a heart and passion for the Lord and for people. As a member of Gather & Grow, her spiritual life has stretched and she has developed a much deeper love for God as He uses her voice to help and encourage others as she worships in song. Valecia has always believed one should “speak life then declare and decree God’s blessing over your life daily – sound your voice with a shout of praise ”Hallelujah” God be Praised”.
